It was not until I started supervising visitations that I fully understood how important the service we provide is. There really is nothing like it.

APPLICATION

Anyone wishing to make a difference in our community is encouraged to volunteer with Home To Home. You can get the process started by completing an application. Home To Home will contact you to move forward. No previous training or specific work experience is required.
BACKGROUND CHECK

Home To Home will request authorization to complete both a criminal and child welfare background check. Comprehensive background checks are required for all volunteers and staff members of Home To Home.
TRAINING

Volunteers will meet with our staff to complete in person training on visitation procedures, site specific information and safety protocols. This process usually takes several hours but can easily be tailored to your schedule. Additional comprehensive training in Domestic Abuse, Mental health and Substance Use Disorder will be required for volunteers who supervise visitations.
MANDATED REPORTER

In addition to field training, Home To Home requires Mandated Reporter training for each of our volunteers. This training can be completed online at the volunteer's convenience. Supplemental training in Family Violence, Mental Health or related fields may be offered as well.
VISITATION OBSERVATION

You will be asked to observe a visitation alongside a current staff member or volunteer. You will have the opportunity to interact with one of our visiting families and have any additional questions answered at the completion of the visitation.
SUPERVISING VISITATION

Once your training is over, you will be asked to begin supervising visitations. The opportunity to reunite children with their parents is especially rewarding. How often and how many visitations you supervise will be based upon your personal availability as well as the demand of the current caseload. We are grateful to all volunteers for any number of hours they are able to donate.
